Where to Stay : Tang Palace Hotel

In every city on the planet there are those hidden gem hotels just waiting to be found. Sometimes it’s a local who tips you off and sometimes it is just by chance. Those types of hotel usually have something about them that sets them apart from the rest of the city and once you do find them, that’s it, you are hooked. Well with the Tang Palace they certainly have something that really does set them apart from the rest. Wine, beautiful, yummy, gorgeous, wine. They have invested in the absolute best collection of wine in all of West Africa. So if thats your thing, Tangs your place.

One other element of this hotel I do really like is their private dining room. It is set usually for a Chinese style meal, a speciality of the hotel, but I am sure if you did want something else they would provide. But the room itself, is wonderful. It is private, well lit, good AC and easily sit 16 around an amazing table.

Tang has over the last year won a few International Hotel awards and it is easy to see why. Of course it faces all the usual local challenges and the pool is not the most relaxing. However the internet is okay and better than most, and a number of the staff are quite helpful and friendly. This is another hotel where it is easy to see the influence of the experienced General Manager. The decor is very much in the local style, however it also has a flavor of it’s Chinese connection. There is a lot of marble in this hotel.
