Where to Stay : Labadi Beach Hotel

For so many Labadi Beach hotel is the number one hotel in Accra. It has history, status, reputation, location, the beach, and a whole lot more. It is also a good example of the challenges hotels here face, older slower staff, uninterested staff, low maintenance, slow internet, and high levels of condensation damage. However, and maybe due to its age, Labadi beach remains one of the best choices when you need a top hotel to stay in.

If you are staying elsewhere, the hotel still has plenty to offer. A good restaurant, a wonderful poolside and possible the best place in Accra for a coffee and a smoke are all available at Labadi Beach hotel.

If I wanted to best, and had to stay in the city, forget the cost for now, then this would be right up there as my choice. Maybe it’s a two horse race, a choice between two, but if I was booked in by someone else I would be really pleased. One downside to this hotel, well for some, is the quantity of young girls who want to be your friend that are around the hotel. There are one or two hotels who have the situation even worse, but for Labadi this is something of a challenge.

What the Guests say on TripAdvisor

Excellent Service & Hospitality  : Beautiful hotel, great swimming pool, amazing breakfast, but not up to Standard and bad service at reception  :  The only attraction of this hotel is its proximity to the beach  :  An Oasis in African  :  Don’t waste your money!  : Excellent : Super

The mixed reviews are very usual in Accra and in West African hotels in general. Meeting some peoples expectations is almost impossible some times. The general skill levels in certain areas of hotels is a really big challenge and this can and does impact on the guest feedback
